Squishy Little Sea Pigs

Common Name: Sea Pig
Scientific Name: Scotoplanes globosa
Status: Not Yet Assessed
There are several species of sea pig, but it seems one of the more discussed species is Scotoplanes globosa. These animals are strange, creepy, slimy-looking creatures that live on the deep ocean floors, even around arctic regions. Sea pigs are a genus of sea cucumbers, which are invertebrate animals in the same phylum as sea stars, sea urchins, brittle stars, and sand dollars. Sea cucumbers are further classified into the class Holothuroidea.
